Assembly Operatives
We are looking for Assembly Operatives to join our team in Watnall. In this role, you will assemble aerospace components and sub-assemblies to precise drawings, specifications and quality standards, ensuring all work is completed safely, accurately and efficiently.
About the role
This is a hands-on role suited to someone with good practical ability, strong attention to detail and a commitment to high-quality workmanship. You will be responsible for assembling components used in the aerospace industry, working to strict engineering standards and maintaining full compliance with safety and quality procedures.
Key responsibilities
- Assemble aerospace components and sub-assemblies in line with engineering drawings, work instructions and specifications
- Use hand tools, jigs, fixtures and assembly equipment to complete operations accurately and efficiently
- Interpret drawings, route cards and technical instructions to ensure components are assembled correctly
- Carry out basic fitting, drilling, fastening, sealing and finishing tasks as required by the assembly process
- Use measuring equipment and inspection tools to verify dimensions, alignment and conformance to specification
- Ensure all work is completed to required quality standards, with accurate completion of production documentation and traceability records
- Identify and report any non-conformances, defects or issues affecting product quality or production efficiency
- Maintain tools, equipment and work areas in a clean, safe and serviceable condition
- Follow all health and safety, environmental and quality requirements at all times
Skills and experience
- Previous assembly experience within engineering, manufacturing or aerospace is preferred, although this is not essential
- A recognised apprenticeship or qualification in Engineering, Manufacturing or a related discipline would be advantageous
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications and work instructions
- Good practical knowledge of assembly techniques, hand tools and measuring equipment
- Experience working to quality standards within a controlled manufacturing environment
- High attention to detail and a commitment to producing work to exacting standards
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
- Willingness to learn, follow procedures and contribute to continuous improvement
